Provide Feedback to Church Leaders

All Souls is guided by our Unitarian Universalist values, including our belief in mutual respect and democratic processes. Thus, we strive for open and respectful communication and to offer appreciation when we can. We also seek to respond to serious concerns with an interest in resolving them as well as possible, and to do so in a manner that respects the inherent worthiness and dignity of all concerned.

While we encourage direct communication between people, at times we want to share our appreciation, concerns, information or feedback more broadly. Sometimes we don’t know exactly with whom to speak. All Souls leadership created this form in order to facilitate the sharing of feedback in such cases. Fill out this form to provide feedback to church leadership about congregational life.

Feedback Types Defined

  • A member seeks something specific in some aspect of congregational llife, for example: musical selections, decorations, publications, religious education curricula, facility usage, or sermon topics. Though decisions are rarely made to suit individual preferences, member input can be valuable and is appreciated.

  • A member provides input about staff, volunteer, ET, or ministers’ performance of duties. This feedback can be of recognition or concern. For example, for an outstanding choir performance, projection completion, or for handling something with notable skill, failing to uphold our Covenant of Right Relationship, lapsed attendance at committee meetings, or exerting too little initiative in pursuing a project. We ask that criticism aims to be kind, concrete, and constructive. Performance feedback will be shared with the person’s supervisor, supervising body, or team lead, and with the person as appropriate. It will be considered as a factor in a staff member’s or ET’s performance evaluation.

  • We develop policies and procedures to help clarify what is important, what we do, and how we do it. Feedback can be given on (1) a policy or procedure that one believes is inconsistent with our values or Principles, and one believes should be reformed and removed; and (2) new policies or procedure that one thinks would benefit All Souls.

FAQs

  • Responses on this form go directly to the Developmental Minister and Executive Director and the Board President and Vice President simultaneously, to ensure proper transparency and so that the feedback is directed to the best person. We are unable to respond to anonymous feedback, but we will seek to respect your privacy and will limit how we share your feedback to only those who need to see it.

  • In addition to using this form, you may direct your feedback to a specific person, including any trustee or church officer or member of the Executive Team. If your concern is time sensitive, and especially if it involves a concern about health or safety, we encourage you to make immediate and direct contact with church leadership.

  • To submit feedback confidentially, please email the church moderator at moderator(at)allsouls.ws. In your email, please state to whom your feedback is directed (e.g., the Board of Trustees, the Executive Team, or both) and include a statement of why you are requesting the church moderator to keep your identity confidential when communicating your feedback.

    Please note that, in cases where the feedback raises concerns regarding the health or safety of an individual, the moderator reserves the right to break confidentiality as necessary to prevent harm to individuals.
