spacer Be a Part of All Souls' Social Justice Program!

All Souls has a long history and proud tradition of working for social justice and fighting against oppression of all kinds.

Our Congregation has been working for more than a century to make our city a more just and compassionate community through direct public service. All Souls is also called to action on issues of national and international concern. All Souls' tradition of public witness here in the nation's capital dates back to standing against slavery, and continues to this day.

We welcome everyone to be a part of the social justice ministry of All Souls. This page provides more information on our activities and how to get involved.

Louise Green, the director of Social Justice Ministries, can be reached for questions and more information at lgreen@allsouls.ws or 202-332-5266, x114.

Social Justice Task Forces at All Souls

A Dialogue on Race & Ethnicity (ADORE)
Contact: Jim Armstrong at Jacycle@principle2.org

All Souls! All Vote!
This group works on voter registration, voter education, and get out the vote with other organizations such as the "Rolling Mobilization for a New American Vision" voter registration drive that began on the 40th anniversary of the March on Washington. The voting-rights task force will also work on local voting rights for Washington DC's 50,000 non-US citizens.
Contact: Ann Steinecke at asteinecke1@yahoo.com

All Souls Housing Corporation
Affordable housing is diminishing in the All Souls neighborhood, forcing out low- and middle-income residents. The housing task force will support the fight for affordable housing through established groups within All Souls (All Souls Housing Corporation, Jan Keenan Housing Project, UU Affordable Housing Corporation), as well as by building partnerships with community groups (Washington Interfaith Network, Tenants Task Force on Rent Control, Coalition for Housing Justice). We also seek to educate ourselves about the demographics of All Souls and the neighborhood.

Interfaith Dialogue
Contact: Kat Liu at kali8@mindspring.com

International Issues
This task force concentrates on three areas: global AIDS, slavery, and the Middle East, specifically the deoccupation of Iraq and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We hope to learn and educate others about these issues, as well as take concrete local actions we can do that would have an impact internationally.
