Mark your calendars: June 3-5, 2011
Now in its eighth year, All Souls’ Weekend on the Bay brings congregants together for spiritual reflection, relaxation, outdoor fun, and a chance to make new connections while strengthening established friendships. Join us as we practice creating Beloved Community at Camp Tockwogh, two hours from All Souls Church on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
What costs are covered?
- All sorts of activities. Splash in the swimming pool or, on the Bay, go canoeing, fun-yakking (sit-on kayaks), motor-boating, and water-tubing. Safely back on land, play ultimate Frisbee, basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, or soccer. Or hike, bike (bring your own), practice archery, play disc golf, or throw horseshoes. Or read a book! On Saturday morning, kids five and older play in the camp’s Kids Zone; there’ll be childcare for younger kids. (Some activities have additional fees—see below.)
- Six meals. Friday night pizza, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and BBQ lunch.
- One of five lodging options. This year we also offer an “off-siters” option for day-trippers and those who choose to sleep elsewhere (Chestertown, MD, is close-by).
What happens during the weekend?
- Friday. Late afternoon gathering, pizza dinner, and vespers service.
- Saturday. Morning workshops, afternoon free time and activities, and at night, talent show, singing around a bonfire, and dance party. Or just relax and enjoy nature!
- Sunday. Morning worship service followed by a BBQ lunch.
What activities have additional fees?
You must register and pay in advance for
- Saturday morning half-day ropes course (ages 12 and up): $25
Where can I sleep?
All on-site options require that you bring your own bed linen and pillow(s).
- Tent sites and Cabins. You must bring your own tents. Cabins, with 8-12 single beds in each, are rustic and unheated. Bring a curtain/blanket to create two rooms. For both tent sites and cabins, you’ll walk through dewy grass to reach the bathroom/shower house.
- Cottages have a front porch, a small living room with a fireplace, and three bedrooms (each bedroom has three single beds and a private bathroom/shower). An additional fee applies for couples who reserve a Cottage bedroom for themselves (because of the empty bed).
- The Stewart Lodge has four porches, a living room, and three (separate, but not entirely private) dormitory rooms. Each dorm room has 8-9 single beds and a bathroom with two toilets, two sinks, and two showers.
- The Tickwogh (not “Tockwogh”!) Conference Center has bedrooms, each with three single beds plus one or two bunk beds and a private bathroom with two sinks, two showers, and one toilet. Doors open on to the wraparound porch (on the main floor) or to the meadow (downstairs). Though the farthest building from the Dining Hall, it is accessible, with no steps or level changes on the main floor.
