About the Book Discussion Group
The Book Discussion Group meets nine times a year at a home of a congregant near the church. It’s usual meeting is the second Sunday of the month, at about 1:30 pm. We read both fiction and non-fiction, and choose the books by consensus, although everyone is encouraged to suggest titles. We are a welcoming group fully committed to multicultural in-reach as well as reading a broad selection of literature. If you are looking for a book group that is open to your ideas and point of view, we hope you will join us.
Some examples of what we’ve read in the past include:
- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
- Washington Square by Henry James
- The Best of Simple by Langston Hughes
- The Pilgrim of Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard
- The Same Sea by Amos Oz
- Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
