Q: Will there be food and beverages?
A: Yes.
Tickets of $100 and above get you into the cocktail party honoring Unitarian-Universalist Association President William Sinkford, where you’ll find an open bar serving beer, wine, waters, and soft drinks and a buffet of hors d'oeuvres. You’ll also receive four drink tickets for the second part of the evening, which begins at 7:00 pm.
Tickets priced from $50–$99 are for the ball only, which starts at 7:00 pm. You’ll receive four drink tickets and have access to a buffet of light snacks, such as humus, pita, and crudités.
You can buy additional drink tickets throughout the ball, from 7:00–10:00 pm. Beer and wine cost two tickets; waters and soft drinks, one ticket. IDs will be required.
Q: Will there be music?
A: The best! Very talented musicians from the All Souls congregation are donating their talents. Pianist, trumpeter, saxophonist, and singer Gordon Kent, who performs regularly at the Banana Café on Capitol Hill, will provide jazz, R&B, rock and roll, and American songbook standards. He’ll alternate sets with Northeast Corridor, a band led by Pablo Benavente and Melinda St. Louis, which covers popular dance tunes from the 1960s to today. Dust off your party shoes and prepare to dance in the change!
Q: What is the dress for the evening?
A: “Festive dress.” If you want to wear your best ball gown or tux, go for it! If you prefer interesting ethnic dress, excellent! Diamonds on the soles of your heels? Wear them! Your call. Velvet, satin, and silk are all fine; just no t-shirts and denim, please. The idea is to dress up, but have fun!
Q: What about parking?
A: Limited street parking is available, though it’s likely to be hard to find on Inaugural Weekend. All Souls is on the 16th Street bus lines and only three blocks from the Columbia Heights metro stop on the Green Line. We’re also hoping to procure access to the Target parking garage, which is three blocks away. Please check back later for more information. We have sold out of reserved parking spaces.
